ACC Game(s) 2 Watch This Week: (5) Wake Forest Demon Deacons at the (1) Duke Blue Devils, Sunday at 8.
OTB’s Prediction: Devils 76 Deacs 66
The Why: The Deacs face a gauntlet this week with going to Duke and UNC this week and I see the Blue Devils pulling this one out with good guard play from Smith and Scheyer. Wake has more than enough talent to pull this one off, but I don’t think they have put it together enough to get this win.

(5) Wake Forest Demon Deacons at (6) North Carolina Tar Heels, Wednesday at 7.
OTB’s Prediction: Deacs 76 Heels 72
The Why: No, UNC is not playing in South Carolina or against a top 5 team, but I think the Deacs matchup well with UNC and Wake’s size will effect the Heels’ post-play. Ultimately, this game rest on the Deacs’ two man game with PG Ish Smith and PF Al-Farouq Aminu stepping up and I think they will here.

ACC Team 2 Rise This Week: Maryland Terrapins

ACC Team 2 Fall This Week: Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

This week saw some tremendous moves in the rankings with Clemson and Virginia both moving up five spots and FSU dropping 8 places! What they have in common is streaks in ACC play as Clemson/UVA went 2-0 this week and FSU went 0-2–I expect these kind of big shifts to mellow out as the season goes on…thanks for reading and comment it up below with criticism/praise/suggestions…

    Even I am a little surprised how high Virginia (and, for that matter, Virginia Tech) is ranked this week on your poll. While the Heels may have straight up negative momentum (dementum, as it were), I am not sure I’d put my money on the Hoos to top the Heels if the teams were to go head to head right now. I would put UNC over Wake, and then either one or both of them over UVA and VT. Since UVA is no longer at the bottom of your polls, I stopped reading after No. 6, so I have no comment there.

    @The UVA Fool,

    I cannot win. (lol) Right now’s version of UNC really is not all that good comparatively to Heels’ of the past which makes them middle of the road at this point.. I think they are very beatable…even by UVA. Losing Zeller for another month or so certainly is not going to help this struggling squad either. What I wanted to see from Virginia Tech was players not named Allen/Delaney to step up…and they have–that’s the difference between 08-09 Hokies and 09-10 Hokies. Virginia Tech should easily be a 10+ win ACC squad this year and really no excuse not too in my opinion. As for the ‘Hoos, you have to take it game by game and a win this Saturday would be huge.

    Thanks for the comment, The UVA Fool!
