The Super Bowl, Big Game, as it were, is coming up in a couple weeks and the ACC is all over the game…

The ACC is well represented in the upcoming Super Bowl with guys from a wide variety of teams. The Super Bowl odds have the Colts as a 5.5 point favorite as of now, but they are under 5.5 for ACC reps. Indianapolis has star wide receiver and former Cane Reggie Wayne, Jackets’ Phillip Wheeler at linebacker, BC’s Jamie Silva at DB, and the Heels’ center Jeff Saturday. Who dat play for those Saints from the ACC? Da…er, that would be the U’s LB Jonathan Vilma and TE Jeremy Shockey, Pack’s DT Demario Pressley, Clemson’s LB Anthony Waters, Georgia Tech’s Chris Reis at safety, and the Hokies’ Prioleau Pierson.

I watch more college football, but have paid special attention to the playoffs at least and I think I would go with the team with less ACC players and favorite in the Colts with all of that experience and a defense coming together. Then again, I just blog college sports so use whatever service you need for inside info for those kind of picks. If I had to pick a collection of players from the ACC alumni, got to go with Colts also–Wayne, Saturday, Wheeler, and Silva are strong–though I’m a big Vilma fan too.

If the Pro Bowl peaks your interest too, AFC has 11 ACCers that were either elected to or named as replacements while the NFC has 8–not bad at all ACC and a few of those players can’t play because they have a game the week after the Pro Bowl to play in.

The Super Bowl is always a huge event to me as it is a celebration of the last football game of the season so I soak it up the weeks before the game. Hopefully, our ACC alumni will show out and give us a good game.
